Electron microscopic investigation of changes of finer structures
in rabbit retina follow inoculation of "aconiti tuber"

Abstract
|

|
Since the time of ancient , an alkaloid - "aconiti tuber" traditionally has been widely applied in herbic medicine in this country as a hepatonics and therapeutics for various chronic nerve diseases and not only favorable results but toxic effects on the eye have been encountered clinically.
For the elucidation of its nature of histopathological alteration on the finer structures of the rabbit retina, the electron microscopic investigation was carried out following the administation of "aconiti tuber" intraperitoeally an 1, 3, 5, 7 days interval respectively.
The characteristic features observed in this study appears that the intiation of destructive changes is pronounced at the retinal outer layers and the nerve system demonstrates more susceptible than the glial system.
